Graphic: Tradedy, as unknown gunmen killed more than 47 at Ozubulu Catholic church
More than 47 worshippers have been murdered and numerous others injured when gunmen stormed St. Philip Catholic Church during Sunday service on the 6th of August, 2017.
According to the statement by Gov. Obiano of Anambra State, the shooting was fueled by a fight between 2 members of the Amakwa community of Ozubulu. The two men involved in the incident are said to be living abroad, but decided to take their fight back to their home town.
It happened that when the assassins stormed the church to kill their victim, they saw his vehicle parked in the church. So they came into the church looking for their target who fled the scene based on the tips that he got about the shooters that were coming to kill him. Probably out of anger, for missing their target the killers began to spray bullets on innocent worshippers who have got nothing to do with the dirty deal that caused the feud.
Not caring that they were on a holy ground, they shot and killed more than 47 victims, and wounded dozens how are now receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital Nnewi
Gov. Obiano promised to foot the bills for the treatment of those at the hospital. He also said he would help with the funeral cost of the victims. The Gov also promised to fish out those that are responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.
So sad. RIP!!!!
